IN DEFENCE OF CHILDHOOD

Abstract

Sofia Rusova are eminent Ukrainian representative of humane pedagogics. She are founder of
national preschool system. Teacher founded first kindergarten in Ukraine. Education was built on
free basis. The interests and needs of child took into consideration. Children played games and listened
fairy-tales and went for walks and creative work. Pupils drew and modeled and sang and danced. The
art revealed creative abilities and possibilities of personality. Rusova educated children through art Because art awakens desire for beauty and kindness. The art ennobled soul of child. Pupils learned
about world through art. Sofia Rusova told fairy-tales about life animals and birds and insects and
plants. Children expressed your feelings and fantasy and thoughts in creative work. The fairy-tales
developed language and pronunciation of pupils. Teacher very important meaning spared for dramatization method. Because dramatization further mutual understanding and interactions between children.
Pupil imagines yourself as fairy-tale hero and tries be brave and kind thanks to dramatization .
Sofia Rusova struggled against authoritarian education. Teacher defended children’s right to
freedom Self-expression. Rusova aspired to educate free and creative and many-sided personality.
Therefore she showed world in all beauty and grandeur. Children learned be Self-independent personalities.
They expressed own fantasy and fillings and thoughts. The kindergarten resembled Children’s
republic. Pupils showed example of friendliness and collaboration. Sofia Rusova aspired to build the
very human and democratic education system for children. Teacher studied European and American
free education systems. Fröbell’s education system and Ushynsky’s education system and Montessori’s
education system and Dewey’s education system among them. Rusova devoted whole soul for children.
Teacher helped children from poor families. She dreamed about that all Ukraine people being educated
and happy. Therefore Sofia Rusova struggled and suffered for free and independent Ukraine
